Tonight while I was missing you, I went out for a walk
The sky was painted purple, though it wasn't fully dark
Through the blurry lens of teary eyes, they faded into sight
Two little stars just close enough to share a single light
I looked at them and coveted their sweet proximity
And thought with bitter anguish what a comfort it would be
If you and I could be as close tonight as those two stars
And fall asleep beneath the sky, wrapped in each other's arms
But as I cried my mind recalled something I learned as a child
The space between two stars is millions and millions of miles
Those stars seemed close enough that surely their sides touched
